Meet Niels:

Hi, and welcome to Chaffee Mud Hawgs Blogspot! As you can see, my name is Niels; I am 31 years old and am happily married to my beautiful wife Kim (4 years and counting)! We live in the Fort Smith, AR area. I have always enjoyed riding mountain bikes recreationally for as long as I can remember. I, along with Co-Founder Seth, currently trail ride through what was Fort Chaffee Army Base in Barling/Fort Smith, AR. From Fort Chaffee, we now access the Ben Geren Regional Park system of trails. These trails include: Whoop 'n' Holler, Roller Coaster, Wild Hog Tracks and Beaver Dam trails. In addition to these trails, between the two of us, we have also riden trails at Springhill Park in Barling, AR, Fianna Hills in Fort Smith, AR and Fossil Flats Trail part of the Devils Den State Park system in West Fork, AR. There are many other trails within a short distance of the area that I for one would love to ride, it's just finding the time to endulge in my hobby. Meet Seth:

I have been married for 5 yrs to Amanda and have a 2 1/2 year old daughter named Alexia, they both support my "addiction."

I am relatively new to trail riding, but have been riding MTB for 11 yrs. I currenty have a Mongoose XR100 (Wal-mart special) which is still all stock. We have started this riding club for the adventures on our MTB, and to find other interested individuals to ride with to expand these adventures.

The trails I have ridden are Spring Hill, Chaffee Tank Trails, Ben Geren, and Fianna Hills. I definitely like the tank trails the best. (MORE MUD!)

Official Chaffee Mud Hawgs Website

I’ve created the “Official Chaffee Mud Hawgs” website. When you get a chance you should check it out and let me know what you think. I’ve noticed one problem with the html coding of the site, the feedback page does NOT work, if you’d like to let me know your thoughts then use the e-mail link under the “About Me” page.

 

Also, this week’s ride will be at the Fort Chaffee School House at the intersection of Wells Lake Road and Massard Road. (Approximately 9:30)

June 30 Post - Springhill Park Update

Ok, we rode Springhill Park's Golden Eagle Trail this morning and I have to let everyone know that it was not the best ride I've ever had. The trails was quite overgrown now due to the rain, not sure who manages the trails but they definitely need some help. Some brush along the side of the trail will get you, it had large leaves and spines on it, Seth hit this plant pretty hard and has what appear like mosquito bits all up his leg from it. Speaking of mosquito's, they were bad also, be sure to have repellent with you when you ride.
 
We had planned on taking the longer loop (Orange Loop) but due to the rain we've been receiving locally, the trail crossed a rather deep creek and we didn't take the chance of getting stuck so we rode the Green trail today.

Hello and thank you for visiting again! I wanted to let you know that I’ve added banners with Google Ads, if you see anything in the banners I’m sure they would appreciate any interest you may have in their business. I’ve also added the Google search where you can do keyword searches of the web and the sites shown on this blogspot, such as YourMTB and Singletracks.

 

In addition to informing you of the additional banner ads, I want to let you know that I will post weekly by Friday afternoon where we will be riding. As most may know, Springhill Park WILL close their trail due to rain and other inclement weather. So in the event it rains we will have to meet at Ben Geren Park.
